This painting was inspired by a photograph that I took in the summer. The awnings are striped as the hotel often changes the color of their awnings throughout the year. I also enjoyed painting the flags, and I felt like it was a real, luxurious American hotel to capture and paint.

Beverly Wilshire belongs to my hotels series. i have photographed this hotel from several ventage points. In this work i was happy to include the American flag. Whenever I'm in Los Angeles, I make sur to visit Beverly Drive to capture a new portion of the exterior of the gorgeous hotel.
